t’s that time of year, and I’m just finally getting around to getting my Easter on. My editorial calendar is fubared cause I’m a Tomboy in a house of men: a husband, a son, and a tomcat who also thinks he is my son. So naturally I think ideal window for a holiday project would be 2-4 weeks out. Right? Pfft.
The Egg Farmers of Ontario have my back.
It’s that time of year again for The Eggs Factor! That’s right, the EFO is “egg-static” (ba-dum ching!) to bring back their extremely cute and well-designed online egg decorating competition for the third year. So the boy and I began our foray into Easter festivity there for a fun hour, using their Easter Egg designer for the contest. This actually looked like a five year old giving me instructions with all the authority of an architect (No, no. Use that colour, mommy. Yeah that one. Okay now scribble that there). We printed out some colouring sheets for later. Then we looked over information on dyeing eggs in all sorts of different ways. There’s even information about using natural dyes.
I may or may not have committed to having to buy 3 dozen eggs to try all the different ways to dye an egg.
Why you should play:
Kids of all ages from 1-100 are invited to submit a design to the contest. Two lucky people from each age category will win an iPad, but the real winners will be the kids. For every valid entry, the Egg Farmers of Ontario has pledged to donate the cash value of a carton of eggs to school nutrition programs.
All kids deserve a good meal. And remember, my local food fans, when you buy eggs in the grocery store featuring the maple leaf, you are investing in your local economy by supporting your local Egg Farmer (thumbs up!).
