Every Who’s Who in Whoville liked shopping a lot…
But the Grinch, who writes for FoodRetro, did NOT!
Last year the Grinch hated shopping the whole Christmas season!
Now, please–ask her why. She will tell you the reason.
Vulturing far-away parking spots doesn’t seem right.
It’s a long slog indoors, enduring harsh winter’s bite.
Wearing thick winter coats is sticky and hot,
and shopping while wearing them makes one sweat a lot.
Kid’s tired; so is mommy. There’s nowhere to sit.
And if dad can’t find coffee, he will throw a fit.
The tables are dirty. The food court is packed.
The people in lines have forgotten their tact.
Forget conversation, my girls and my boys!
Who can talk over the noise?
Oh, the Noise! Noise! Noise! Noise!
Alas, the shopping’s barely begun,
and this household of shoppers is pretty much done.
None of us are full of holiday cheer.
Quite the opposite, indeed, it seems, I should fear.
And then, when we’re done all we hoped to achieve,
we endure all the same things as we struggle to leave.
As she stows bags, Mom remembers something she had forgot–
She really hates gift wrapping. She loathes it–a lot.
Now what if, this time, the story had changed?
What if someone changed everything that made mom deranged?
What if parking’s free, and valet? Icy lots not a problem!
What if shopping’s not sweaty? What if shopping is awesome?
What if someone is there to take coats and bags
leaving both your hands free to examine the tags?
What if there’s places to sit, have coffee, be gabby?
Where piano music is restful, and makes you not crabby?
And perhaps of all things–the best thing at the mall–
What if gift-wrapping was their chore? And not yours, at all?
And then you discover that this place is real!
It’s like RBC® Avion knew just how I feel.
Shopping the malls can be fun and not hard.
These things come FREE when I show my Avion® card.
The VIP RBC ®Avion® Holiday Boutique is available in select malls this season. In-store boutique experiences begin November 27 until December 31, 2015, in Burnaby, BC at Metropolis at Metrotown and in Toronto, Ontario at Yorkdale Shopping Centre, during mall hours.
The RBC Avion Holiday Boutique is for Avion cardholders only but at Yorkdale Shopping Centre in Toronto, ON, the public can enjoy gift wrapping services for a nominal fee (to be donated to charity).
It makes shopping relaxed. Isn’t that enough reason?
Disclosure: I am part of the RBC® Avion Holiday Boutique Influencer Campaign and I receive special perks as part of my affiliation with this group. The opinions on this blog are my own.
So is the poetry.
And because this is the second year in a row I’m going to hang out at the VIP suite and I love this post so much, I’m sharing it again too. I can’t wait to go this weekend and see the VIP suite this year. More on that to come!
